Immanuel Sunday: Twelve Springs and Seventy Palm Trees
On the morning of the second day of the Lunar New Year (February 11), Macau Immanuel Community Church welcomed the arrival of the Lunar New Year with a heart of worship. Missionary shared a message: “Twelve Springs and Seventy Palm Trees”. Then congregation responded the Word with a praise of “New Vision, New Direction”, wishing that in this new year everyone can become like these twelve springs and seventy palm trees, giving many tired and weary souls the true rest and hope from the Lord.
During the service, the missionary also reminded not to forget the grace given by the Lord, even in difficulties. In the past, the Israelites had no water to drink in the wilderness, and they started complaining to Moses, but instead Moses humbly came before the Lord and seeked Him. Amazingly, he received God’s instructions, and performed a miracle of turning the “bitter water” into “sweet water”.
Therefore, he highlighted that in the midst of suffering where God’s faithfulness and grace can be experienced more deeply.
“What’s more, our past life of bitterness has been changed because of Jesus Christ, and he has led us to Elim, which symbolizes a place of rest so that we can find true rest in Him.” Not only that, the missionary also challenged congregation to become twelve springs and seventy palm trees that can give others rest and hope in this new year, as well as the Church can also become a place like Elim, leading many souls to come before the Lord, and seize the Lord’s promise to strive to bear fruits in 30 times, 60 times, or 100 times this year.
Finally, the missionary also encouraged everyone to walk the forty-day path of Lent together starting from this Wednesday (14th) to gain a deeper understanding of the meaning of the Lord’s suffering and to be prepared to greet the Lord’s resurrection.
